What is a Retreat?
When we think about retreating, we usually think of places in nature, secluded Retreat centres or perhaps even pampering spas. But truly we can retreat anywhere. Anywhere we can find stillness will do and the list of venues is endless: a secluded garden, in front of your favourite painting in a local gallery or sitting in the conservatory with a cup of tea.
The word "Retreat" for some connotes escape or retreat from the real world - however, a Retreat can actually be anything you desire which allows you to step out of your ordinary environment to listen and attune to yourself. We tend to think of Retreats when we are tired, ill or desperate for some peace of mind. Stillness, serene settings and the silence that are hallmarks of most Retreats can allow space for thoughts and feelings that aren't given much airtime in our lives. The aim is to calm the inner "shoulds" and "oughts" and eventually replace them with a peace of mind and body.
This kind of Retreat might only take a few hours or you might need a few days. However, or wherever you do it, creating a Retreat for yourself takes a little preparation, and concentration. So tell us what you would like and we will do our best to help you design exactly the right Retreat for you!
