wORKING WITH VALUES

How does an organisation establish it's values?

Values awareness is truly of huge benefit to individuals and organisations. Those in the most prominent positions in organisations, all to too often set the company's values in stone and then expect their employees to hold or even adopt such values. How many of us hold identical values or even share the exact meaning for a value like "hope"?

A Common Vision is truly created, rather than service being paid to faceless organisational aspirations, when values awareness is raised throughout the workforce. The dissemination of a values based approach in a company contributes towards higher performance, an innovative workforce translating into much improved customer services and productivity. Leadership and management become clearer and the operational goals are supported.

NVISION facilitators promote that key people, at all levels of an organisation, should be values aware.

Values govern our lives and are unique to each individual. Being aware of our values and learning to honour them, facilitates living a life with meaning and purpose. We then experience fulfilment and happiness in our work and relationships, with huge effects on the way we act, relate to and communicate with our colleagues. This is reciprocated by those around us and common respect, appreciation and acknowledgment is initiated.

The investment in using Coaching and other newly developed values tools, reaps benefits on multiple levels and has proved to be a highly beneficial experience for individuals, teams and for the total organisation. (The search for meaning is facilitated greatly at all these levels)

Values work in a team or group, allows individuals to understand and empathise with others. This then facilitates working together with respect of each other’s specific values, personalities, competencies and ways of being, doing and thinking and learning. Working congruently with our personal values when setting goals and targets makes them more achievable. This groundwork can then lead to addressing organisational goals based on values which align with those of the individuals inside the organisation.

We all agree that your theory is crazy, but is it crazy enough?
